Bass guitar is by no means a male reserve, as evidenced by the emblematic Tina Weymouth and Meshell Ndegeocello, the vivacious Kinga Glyk and the playful Esperanza Spalding. A fresh face on this scene, Adi Oasis contributes to the musical landscape with her inspired approach. Author of Lotus Glow, a particularly accomplished album, the Martinique-born singer-songwriter attests here to a funk production of the highest quality. This is particularly evident on “Dumpalltheguns,” an ultra groovy track recorded with American singer Danielle Ponder. Performing here at Moods, Zürich's renowned jazz club, Oasis offers a rich overview of her musical production. Backed by Ben Hoffmann on keyboards (a clear fan of Stevie Wonder) and Andrew McLean on drums, the singer kicks off her set with an emotionally charged track. Carried by mellow electronic beats, the performer transposes the electric bass into a carefully crafted musical universe. One of Oasis' particular strengths is her silky, soulful vocals. At times reminiscent of artists like Erykah Badu or Angie Stone, she nonetheless asserts a distinctive personal touch: a talent to watch.
