Recorded at Jazz à Porquerolles 2010, this film brings together Archie Shepp and Marc Ribot for the first time, accompanied by Michel Benita (double bass), Steve McCraven (drums), and Napoleon Maddox (vocals).
The program moves between revisited standards, tense blues, spoken word, and free jazz, culminating in the emblematic “Revolution / Mama Rose.” The encounter between Archie Shepp’s breathy vocals and Marc Ribot’s edgy energy gives the concert a unique tension: music that is at once raw, political, and profoundly alive.
