Flutist and composer Ronald Snijders is one of the best-known Surinamese musicians in the Netherlands, Suriname, and beyond. A musical global citizen, a creative jack-of-all-trades, and an exceptionally versatile and talented artist. Both Suriname and the Netherlands knighted him for the bridges he builds between cultures in his music. Since his arrival in the Netherlands in 1970, Snijders has proven himself a master at fused with Surinamese dance music, Caribbean salsa, bossanova, funk, and jazz. He is therefore often called the most swinging flutist in the Netherlands. In 2022, Snijders won the prestigious Boy Edgar Prize. This year, he returns to the festival with the Ronald Snijders Special Band. With this group of musicians, Snijders once again demonstrates an unceasing musical curiosity and a drive for innovation. A dynamic quest in which a continuous interplay takes place between world, jazz, classical, pop, and beyond. And a quest that, above all, swings like crazy.
