Child prodigies are always around. And Joey Alexander, born in Indonesia in 2003, is undoubtedly one of those people who are gifted with great talent at a very young age. At the age of six, Alexander began playing the piano, interpreting jazz standards from his father's record collection by ear. In 2011, Wynton Marsalis discovered the young pianist for the jazz world. The world-renowned trumpeter had seen Joy Alexander in a YouTube video and was (and still is!) as enthusiastic about Joey Alexander as Herbie Hancock. Already nominated three times for the Grammy Awards, Joey Alexander has performed at numerous prestigious jazz festivals and released five albums to date.
