Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa invites an artist-in-residence every year. The lucky winner gives concerts, meets festival goers and conducts workshops. In 2020, it was the American double bassist Ron Carter! He is the winner of numerous international awards, including the Grammy Award and the NEA Jazz Masters Award. His concert at BZJ was a tribute to Miles Davis. The program included songs from the album "Dear Miles" (2006), as well as the trumpeter's original compositions, including "Flamenco Sketches" and "Seven Steps To Heaven". Carter was joined by Rene Rosnes on piano, Jimmy Greene on tenor saxophone and Payton Crossley on drums. Together they form the Ron Carter New Foursight Quartet.
