João Bosco has been appreciated in Brazil for decades, since the 1960s when he began to compose and play.
In the early 90s, he made a major tour of the United States which brought him widespread international notoriety. He regularly performs on international stages, notably at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
However, João Bosco remains deeply attached to Brazil to the point of never leaving it for too long periods; his music, although rooted in Brazilian samba and bossa nova, is enriched with rock, jazz and ethnic sounds to end up with an eclectic mix as inventive and stimulating as he is.
In 2017, Joao Bosco received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Latin Recording Academy at the 18th Latin Grammy Awards.
