Exuberant and colorful, Marilyn Mazur and her all-female band gathers histrionic atmospheres, intriguing rhythms and sounds, in a performance that captures eyes, ears and soul. When cultures meet, incredible things can happen - and Marilyn Mazur is living proof of this.
Born in New York, of Polish and African-American origins, she grew up in Denmark, with her international background. Mazur became a multi-faceted artist, dancer, singer, pianist, composer, bandleader and above all an exceptional percussionist. Mazur presents an impressive list of collaborations with musicians such as Miles Davis, Jan Garbarek and Gil Evans to name a few. Now, Marilyn Mazur has created a very special project, Shamania, a new ensemble of ten musicians all from Scandinavia, plus, the amazing Norwegian dancer Tine Erica Aspaas. This band will take you on a journey through spiritual and immense landscapes, which arise from the powerful encounter of voice, rhythm and movement. Marilyn Mazur founded and is presenting a very talented band, to which she contributes with her vibrant and powerful compositions and percussion.
