Biréli Lagrène is considered from an early age as a prodigy of the guitar. Born in 1966 in Alsace, the musician is introduced to music from an early age. An instinctive understanding of music then lays the foundation for a passion that will quickly become a profession.
Mostly gypsy at its beginnings, the style of Biréli has mixed with the course of meetings. It culminates today with a fusion jazz tinged with rock and blues. Django Reinhardt remains however a major figure for the guitarist, who has also dedicated several albums. The artist's life has been marked by prestigious collaborations (with Jaco Pastorius in particular) and awards (a Golden Django and two Victoires de la Musique). Biréli Lagrène is today one of the rare French guitarists to enjoy a worldwide recognition. At Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa, Biréli Lagrène presents herself in a quartet. He is accompanied by Franck Wolf on saxophone, Jean-Yves Jung on Hammond B3 organ and Jean-Marc Robin on drums.
