Riccardo Zappa (Forlì, 1951) is an Italian guitarist.
A pupil of Miguel Ablóniz, during his more than thirty-year career he experimented with sound blends based on the combination of the guitar (mainly with twelve strings) and various electronic instruments deviating from classical music, his own compositions and the reworking of famous modern songs.
His debut in the musical world, however, is related to his work as a composer and to the music of the song "Le ciliegie", recorded in 1969 by the then very young Fiorella Mannoia.
He has twenty albums as a soloist; the first, of 1974, realized in tandem with the writer-director Klaus Aulehla, author of texts and voice, was published by the PDU, the record company owned by Mina, with the participation of Pino Presti as arranger, bassist and artistic director.
In 1985 he composed some pieces for the soundtrack of the film Little Fires. Participates in one hundred and fifteen concerts with Eros Ramazzotti.
He has collaborated with Antonello Venditti (who sings in Ouverture, contained in the Trasparenze album), Eugenio Finardi, Fiorella Mannoia, Mina, Giorgio Gaber, Gino Paoli.
In September 2000 he represented Italy in an event, which took place in ancient Babylon - Na?iriya - at the temple of Nabucodonosor, an event that brought together artists from fifty-six countries.
