This is one of the better documentaries I've seen about Billie Holiday. Instead of portraying her as a tragic victim like most other biographies, here she's a tough and fearless woman who lived life on her terms. Despite her sordid background and drug addiction, she became one of the best jazz and blues singers of all time. I really got a sense of her as a person and not just Lady Day.
