Monty Alexander was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica's capital. At the age of six he began the piano, an instrument which he continued to learn as an autodidact. Curious about music, he attended concerts of Louis Armstrong or Nat "King" Cole, while still a teenager. A few years later, his parents moved to the United States, Monty Alexander discovers then Harlem which will become his land of adoption.

Like his career, the music of the great pianist weaves the links between the Caribbean heritage of his native island and the African-American jazz of Harlem. A singular signature that, coupled with his sense of exceptional improvisation, is worth the great pianist of having played and recorded with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones , Ernest Ranglin and many others. A series of collaborations that participates in the international recognition of Jamaican music.

Accompanied for this concert of American and Jamaican musicians, the pianist celebrates Jamaica at the Philharmonie de Paris.
