Alberta Hunter was a jazz and blues singer born in Memphis on April 1, 1895, died in 1984 in New York. Considered one of the best representatives of the style along with Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Ethel Waters with whom she worked in the Theater Empire in 1940.
