In 1978, Alan Lomax, Long Worth, and Bishop John took portable video cameras and went deep into the land where the blues began. The program features Sam Chatmon, Jack Owens and Speyer Bud, Eugene Powell (Sonny Boy Nelson), Sutherland Belton, Turner Othar, Strickland Napoleon, and Savage. Joe. Completed in 1979 and broadcasted by PBS in 1980. The program won prizes and played at numerous festivals. In 1990 it was aired again on PBS, re-released as part of the American series of Patchwork.
