Johnnie Johnson (July 8, 1924 - April 13, 2005), was a pianist and blues musician who worked with Chuck Berry and Eric Clapton, among others.
According to some sources, Berry dedicated his song Johnny B. Goode-born Johnnie Clyde Johnson in Fairmont, West Virginia, United States and began playing the piano in 1928. He enlisted in the Corps of the US Navy during WWII world, where he was a member of the group "Bobby Troup's all serviceman Orchestra". After his return, he moved to Detroit, Illinois, and Chicago, which was associated with several prominent artists, including Muddy Waters and Little Walter. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1952 and immediately a jazz group called "The Sir John Trio" with drummer Ebby Hardy and saxophonist Alvin Bennett became.
The three acted in a place called "Cosmopolitan Club" east of St. Louis. New Year's Eve 1952, Alvin Bennett had an accident and could not act. Johnson, looking for an artist who could replace him quickly called a young driver named Chuck Berry.
He thought that because of his inexperience as a guitarist not replace that New Year's Eve. Yet so little experienciado guitarist that added lyrics to the songs and theatricality to the group. Since Bennet could not play again because of the accident, Johnson hired Chuck Berry as a permanent member of the group.
