Originally from Buffalo, the multi-instrumentalist Lucky Peterson was immersed in music from a very early age. His father, James, himself an accomplished guitarist, owned a blues club where Muddy Waters and others performed. Lucky was just five years old when he made his first hit single, 1-2-3-4, produced by the great Willie Dixon. Soon after, he appeared on The Tonight Show and The Ed Sullivan Show. As a teenager, he played with Little Milton, Bobby Bland, Otis Rush, Etta James... Ridin', the organist, guitarist and singer's debut solo album, came out in 1984, followed, notably, by I'm Ready (1993), Lucky Strikes! (1989), Triple Play (1990) and Double Dealin' (2001). You Can Always Turn Around was released in 2010.
