Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 - August 27, 1990) was a guitarist and singer who merged the genres of blues and rock in the 80s. He developed a sound and style based on artists such as Albert King , Jimi Hendrix, Freddie King or Otis Rush. Rolling Stone magazine quotes him as the seventh best guitarist of all time. At age seven he had his first experience with a guitar when he was given a toy. In 1963 he bought his first album, "Wham" by Lonnie Mack. He heard it so many times that his father ended up breaking with envy since he was a frustrated musician.

On August 27, 1990, shortly before 1:00 AM, a helicopter that took Stevie back to Chicago crashes seconds after takeoff. The 5 people who were aboard die. A subsequent investigation states that it was due to a pilot error.
