Earl’s Court, Sunday, May 25, 1975. The fifth and final concert in London. Two of the concerts from that series are available on video: the 24th and 25th. The 24th concert is better known because it was released in its entirety earlier.
Perhaps that’s why it’s considered somewhat more iconic. But, in my opinion, from the band’s perspective, the 25th was much more successful. And it makes sense: it’s the last night, so there’s no need to save yourself for tomorrow’s performance, and so – almost four hours of wild drive and true Zeppelin magic (“Working from seven to eleven every night :)”).
There are several complete video bootlegs of this show. Unfortunately, I couldn’t compare them all, but on a Zeppelin forum, people say this one has slightly better picture and significantly better sound. That’s why I chose this release. Unfortunately, there’s no official release of these concerts to be expected, though it would seem, why waste such priceless footage? The answer is simple: the concerts weren’t filmed for publication. They were shot for projection on a screen above the stage during the concert. Therefore, the footage is static, hence the close-ups only. Alas, the band members believe this footage is unsuitable for an official full-length release. What made it onto the 2003 double-DVD will likely remain the only officially released fragments of these landmark performances.
