Voivod – a legendary Canadian metal band, performing continuously since 1982. Voivod holds a significant place in the history of thrash metal, a genre that took global music markets by storm in the 1980s. Even then, the Canadians were incorporating new sonic elements into their music, including those derived from punk rock. However, their true breakthrough came a few years later, when they pivoted towards progressive metal, becoming one of the most important bands in the history of the genre. The critically acclaimed albums "Dimension Hatross" and "Nothingface," along with tours with Soundgarden and Faith No More, cemented Voivod's position. Founded by "Awey" Langevin and the late "Piggy" D'Amour, the band has featured many great musicians over the years, including bassist Jason Newsted, known from Metallica, and the now-iconic vocalist "Snake" Bélanger. Today, Voivod is considered an institution by many, with an army of loyal fans and a deservedly legendary status in the metal scene.
