Today, Metallica is one of the world's biggest rock bands and easily fills international stadiums. Thirty years ago, however, the American band was not so well known at all. In the summer of 1984, far before their breakthrough, Metallica played in the Frisian village of De Westereen. The only performance the band has made in Friesland.

The performance on June 9, 1984 made a great impression on many Frisian visitors, at a time when heavy metal was an entirely new music stream. The visit of Metallica to De Westereen provided dirty anecdotes, which decades later are still told in Friesland. In this documentary, program maker Douwe Talma reconstructed that summer evening of 1984 with people who were involved. A piece of forgotten music history of Friesland.
