The CD was recorded in France with the sound engineer Andrew Jackson, while the future of Pink Floyd was vague [4]. Among the invited musicians were Steve Winwood, Ray Cooper, John Lord, Ann Dudley and Michael Kamen (who worked on Roger Waters' debut solo album, The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking, released in May of the same year). Presumably, some compositions (Murder, Out of the Blue, Near the End, musical sketches for Love on the Air and All Lovers are Deranged) were composed by Gilmore when Waters was working on the album The Final Cut. Waters, as they say, did not leave Gilmore time to finish his own compositions, as a result of which none of them got on the album. In 2006, in an interview with Texas Radio, Gilmore commented on Face: "Looking back, I see a few wonderful moments, but in general it's too 80's for my taste today" ("Looking back on it, it's got some great moments on there. the whole flavor of it is too '80s for my current tastes ").
