In the 60's almost all the inhabitants of Mali woke up to the voice of radio DJ Bubakara Traore, singing about independence. Many in Mali still remember how they danced to the hits of Bubakar. But since his music only sounded on the radio, he could not earn enough money and was forced to leave music to become a tailor and a traveling salesman. A few years later he suffered a misfortune: his beloved wife Pierreette died. Desperate Bubakar travels to France, where he works as a builder, and on weekends he appears in shelters for immigrants.
