Neneh Cherry & The Thing opened the last day of Jazzaldia 2012 in the Plaza de la Trinidad. The Thing is a Swedish-Norwegian trio practicing an energetic music inspired by the jazz free movement, one of whose main exponents was Don Cherry, who died in 1995. It is therefore logical to associate with Neneh Cherry, daughter of Don, To carry out this artistic tribute to the trumpeter.
Yesterday I went back to the Festival, but with a very different project. Together with The Thing, he honors Don Cherry, his father, and known as one of the precursors of the Free Jazz movement. They started off with Too Tought Too Die, with some totally unrestrained musicians, sometimes skipping the 4 × 4 rhythm, while Neneh danced all over the stage, approaching the microphone to drop loose phrases and a whole series of guttural cries, in tune with the ' Musical madness' of his companions.
