At one time when strawberries from our plates were not Spanish and shoes to our feet were not Chinese, the Halle de la Villette was not the mecca of culture it is today . Much good it has done in the way, because if the first two examples statements are regrettable in some ways, the transformation of this former Parisian slaughterhouse exhibition hall and concert made this one fringe of Paris hotspots Parisian culture. Thanks to the Jazz festival in la Villette, which since 2002 is striving to bring together the cream of the jazz genre and its tributaries in the aisles of the building.
This year is certainly no exception, so we find an evening that celebrates jazz in its various forms. It all starts with the Red Devils of GoGo Penguin who, rather than yield to the sirens of Britpop dear to their hometown, chose to compose a Jazz in a new way, by adding pop and electro. For its part, our old friend Erik Truffaz we introduced the new member of his troupe: Rokia Traoré, Malian singer who participated in Switzerland last album: Doni Doni.
