The saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Manu Dibango is one of the most important African musicians. In 1972, he released his album "Soul Makossa", which contains a mixture of African music, Soul, and Funk. This made him a star, especially in the North American soul scene. On the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2013, Manu Dibango and his programme "Hommage à Mali" will make a stop over at the Africa Festival, accompanied by Cheick Tidiane Seck, the famous Malian jazz musician. Manu Dibango is and always will be a star and an outstanding personality in the music scene - and we are more than happy that he is going to be the patron of our anniversary festival!
