Watermelon Slim. Bill Homans Born in Boston, Frue raised in North Carolina where he had his first contact with the blues at 5 years.
She sang in choirs and played in clubs since childhood, but only devoted himself to music at 73, after his return from Vietnam, when he recorded his antiwar independently furiously 'Merry Airbrakes'. (He is a member and support of Vietnam Veterans Against the War.) He worked mostly as a truck driver, did not prevent him to graduate in History (ensures that the single most useless degree is the philosophy).
In the 90s he founded his first band and began composing his own material; his songs are subtle and clever twists, while holding unquestionably in the tradition of blues, with some turning towards the country and his album 'Escape From Chicken Coop'. By 2000 signed with Southern Records and began recording in serious and continuously with his new band, The Workers, and have always received excellent reviews and public acceptance. It is a very good guitarist (he plays left-handed with reversed strings) and composer, as well as harmonica.
He has been nominated by the Blues Foundation for 17 Blues Music Awards (6 simultaneous them, record only matched by BB King and Buddy Guy) and 7 WCHandy Awards, and has toured throughout the US, Canada and Europe.
