Rare BBC documentary about jazz musician Slim Gaillard that tells his story. Including the little-known story behind his famous song "Yep-Roc Heresay".

Slim Gaillard (Detroit, Michigan (USA), January 4, 1916 - England, February 26, 1991), real name Bulee Gaillard, was a jazz pianist and guitarist and composer, especially known for his improvisational ability and his puns, typical of scat music. Some sources mention his birthplace in Santa Clara (Cuba) or Pensacola (Florida), USA. He grew up in Detroit and moved to New York in the 1930s. Gaillard first became known in the late 1930s thanks to his participation in Slim & Slam, a new jazz act performed with bassist Slam Stewart. His hits included "Flat Foot Floogie (with a Floy Floy)", "Cement Mixer (Puti Puti)" and "The Groove Juice Special (Opera in Vout)". Vout was Gaillard's term for his popular jargon. This duo participated in the 1941 film Hellzapoppin'.
