Robert Lockwood Jr., or Robert Jr Lockwood, (March 27, 1915 – November 21, 2006) was an American blues guitarist who recorded for Chess Records in the 1950s and 1960s. He was Sonny Boy Williamson's lifelong collaborator. II at his recording sessions.---Robert Lockwood Jr. was born in Turkey Scratch, a village west of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. He started playing the organ at his father's church at the age of 8. The great bluesman Robert Johnson lived with Lockwood's mother for 10 years, after his parents divorced. Lockwood learned first-hand lessons from Johnson, not only how to play the guitar, but also how to handle the stage. Consequently, due to his personal and professional relationship with Johnson, they began to nickname him "Robert Junior" Lockwood.
