Gabriel Butterfield is the eldest son of the late great Chicago harmonica player Paul Butterfield.
Paul was the first white harmonica player to develop a style original and powerful enough to place him in the pantheon of truly great bluesmen! It is impossible to overestimate the importance of the doors that Paul Butterfield opened. His early mid-'60s recordings - featuring the legendary first edition of the racially integrated Paul Butterfield Blues Band (Elvin Bishop, Michael Bloomfield, Mark Naftalin, Sam Lay & Jerome Arnold) - were eclectic, innovative offerings that fused blues electric with rock & roll, psychedelia, jazz, and even (in classic east-west) Indian classical music.
