The great OTIS CLAY.this artist from Mississppi. Like so many other R & B artists, you have to look for his beginnings in Gospel, in his group The Voices Of Hope, and later in other Chicago groups. Alli signs for One-Derfull Records and begins his musical journey away from religious music.
After a few small successes he is signed by Atlantic for their subsidiary Cotillion recording songs by Syl Johnson and Willie Mitchell. In 1972 he recorded his first album on Hi Records, a label founded by Ray Harris and Joe Coughi in Memphis and which had among its ranks artists such as Al Green, Ann Peebles, Syl Johnson, O.V Wright and Jean Plum.
