RIP LV Banks -. October 28, 1932 – May 2, 2011 Guitarist/vocalist LV Banks. He passed away of heart failure on the morning of May 2 at South Shore Hospital in Chicago. He was 79 years old.

LV was a wonderful musician and a popular club attraction on Chicago's South Side. A solid guitarist and spectacular vocalist, his songs were firmly Chicago style and he had a trademark swagger about them.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi in 1932, LV would move to St. Louis to enlist in the Army, and by the 1960s he was the one who landed in Chicago. Although he is very popular and respected throughout Chicago, he never achieved great national fame. His music has been well preserved by two wonderful CDs; Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear, and Ruby, both recorded in Chicago and released on Austria's Wolf Record label. His musical legacy continues through the talents of his son Tre', who has emerged in recent years as a well-known Chicago blues musician.
