Edgar Holland Winter (Beaumont, December 28, 1947), American blues, jazz and rock instrumentalist, known as a highly successful vocalist, saxophonist and keyboardist in the 1970s with his band The Edgar Winter Group. Just like his brother, Johnny Winter is recognizable by his albinism. After recording with his brother, Johnny Winter, Edgar signed his own record deal with Epic Records in 1970 and recorded two successful albums, Entrance and Edgar Winter's White Trash.
In 1972 he formed The Edgar Winter Group, which was backed by Dan Hartman, Ronnie Montrose and Chuck Ruff and later guitarist/producer Rick Derringer in Montrose. It was with this band that he achieved his greatest success They Only Come Out at Night (1972) featuring the instrumental theme and hit "Frankenstein", a pioneering theme with the use of the synthesizer as the main instrument. (During his concerts, Winter showed his virtuosity with keyboards, synthesizer, saxophone and percussion).
