Live performance from Joshua Redman Quartet, recorded in Tokyo Blue Note in 1998. In the early 1990s, Joshua Redman quickly became a media darling, but in his case, he deserves much attention. On the basis of its bop-tenor the artist in question demonstrated great talent, Redman (who probably will never be an innovator) is a return to the styles of Red Holloway and Gene Ammons, but also has a curious spirit and can play intriguing music when he is inspired. The son of the great tenor saxophonist Dewey Redman, he graduated from Harvard and after discussing whether to become a doctor, he seemed to be headed to law studies at Yale.
