After the death of the legendary musician, TS Monk devoted his efforts to preserving the legacy of his father, with his formations and with Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, an institution that has come out artists such as Jacky Terrasson, Joshua Redman or Jane Monheit , among others.

TS Monk became interested in percussion before age ten and his fate was sealed, when his mentor, Max Roach gave him his first battery. After graduating, TS was part of his father's trio until he decided to retire in 1975. From that time, TS worked with R & B groups, music of his generation.

In his Monk on Monck show, TS presents the rich musical heritage of his father with all the energy and creativity he shares with him, in a sextet and singer Nnenna Freelon.
