Jef Lee Johnson should actually perform on 22 February 2013 at the Sons d'hiver Festival, but he died suddenly on January 28th. He was a regular guest of the Festival, and we think it fair to pay him with this homage, where it was originally intended to appear personally on the stage of the Maison des Arts de Créteil.
Reggie Washington (who was already playing music with Steve Coleman, Don Byron, D'Angelo, the World Saxophone Quartet, Cassandra Wilson and many others) was Jef's friend. The two played for several years at Reggie Washington Trio.
In this performance, "Rainbow Shadow" formed with Patrick Dorcéa, the drummer of the trio of Jef Lee Johnson, and the great guitarist Jean Paul Bourelly.
