Indígenous is an American blues-rock band that rose to fame in the late 1990s. The band originally consisted of two brothers, Mato Nanji (voice and mah-TOE no GEE 'guitar, born in 1974), Pte ('Pe-TAY' bass guitar), along with his sister, Wanbdi ('wan -ba-DEE drums, voices), and his cousin, Horses (percussion), his music is heavily influenced by guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan as well Like Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana.
The style and skill of Mato Nanji has been compared to each of these guitarists. The band has also shared stage with artists of different musical genres such as BB King, Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Indigo Girls, Jackson Browne, Dave Matthews Band and Los Lonely Boys.
