Elvin Bishop has blended his style blues, gospel, rhythm and blues and country tradition. He was born in Glendale, a small town in the state of California, and grew up on an Iowa farm without electricity or potable water. When he was 10 years old his family moved to Oklahoma, place in which thanks to the radio achieved to be exposed to the African American music, being animated by the harmonic and the guitar of Jimmy Reed.
Bishop, one of the most recognized guitarists of the blues in the United States during the decades of 1960 and 1970, being a founded member of
The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.
