Robillard in 1967 founded the legendary group Roomful of Blues leading it for a decade during which many member changes occurred before he finally departed in 1979. After playing in the band rockabilly musician Robert Gordon joined The Legendary Blues band in 1981. later Duke formed his own group called the Duke Robillard band first and later renamed Duke Robillard and the Pleasure Kings, making his first album for Rounder label in 1984. During the rest of the '80 he recorded extensively and toured extensively. Robillard in 1990 joined The Fabulous Thunderbirds replacing Jimmie Vaughan same time continued to perform and record as a solo artist. In 1994 he edited the Templation disk for Point Blank / Virgin label which was followed by Duke's Blues two years later, and after making a disc for Virgin "Dangerous Place" (1997), Robillard signed for Shanachie editing in 1999 "New Blues for Modern Man "and" Conversations in Swing Guitar "the following year. The prolific guitarist returned in mid-2000 with a new album entitled "Explorer".
