Red Devils frontman Lester Butler died in 1998 at the age of 38. He was one of the most influential oral harmonics players of the last decades. His raw and furious style of playing with The Red Devils has influenced numerous bluesrock bands around the world. His prominent place is valued by our fellow countryman Pieter van der Pluym alias Big Pete! The red-haired blues album King King of The Red Devils was a thrill in 1992, making the band world famous with cracking blues, still bled, tearing, jerking and scratching even twenty-five years after date! The unpolished recordings of Monday evening sessions, in the same club in Los Angeles, made a deep impression. Mick Jagger was a big fan and immediately went to the studio with the band and Johnny Cash was accompanied by The Red Devils. The Red Devils still played Pinkpop in 1993 and made their last performance in the King King club in June 1993. In 1994 the group was officially dissolved.
