In the trajectory of the American blusero, the highlights are the encounters with Eddie King, Otis Rush and many other great artists of the blues. Wheeler was born in Albany, Georgia, on August 28, 1937 and as many young people of that time began to listen to blues and play the guitar. Thus found in the repertoire of the big bands, as those of Joe Staford, Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington, his favorite music. At 19 he went to Chicago, where he formed a friendship with Little Walter and began playing the harmonica. James was impressed with the sounds of the blues and dazzled with the musicians of his time and chose his instrument: an old Harmony acoustic guitar with a microphone. In 1963 he formed his own band, The Jaguars and during the following years had the opportunity to play with great bluesmen such as BB King, Mckinley Mitchell, Millie Jackson, Otis Clay and O.V. Wright. In 1993, the guitarist joined the Mississippi Heats with whom he recorded three albums. His first solo album "Ready" is from 1998. James Wheeler at age 72 represents a living legend of the Chicago Blues.
